  1. If you are in a big hurry to try RCOMM out, you can follow this quick instal-
  2. lation guide. You should spend some time reading the RCOMM.DOC file in the
  3. near future if you decide that this is the program for you. There is a lot
  4. of interesting information in it.

  7. To install RCOMM:
  8.  
  9. On 2 floppy systems, insert the disk containing the RCOMM files in drive a:.
  10. Insert a blank bootable disk in drive b:.
  11. Enter "A:INSTALLF"
  12.  
  13. The RCOMM files will be copied to drive b:. A default configuration file will
  14. be set up which assumes that RCOMM will be run from drive a: and downloads
  15. will be written to drive b:. You can change this by running RCONFIG.EXE. See
  16. RCOMM.DOC for details.

  18. Note: You should have a config.sys file on your boot disk containing the 
  19. following entries:
  20. FILES=25
  21. BUFFERS=25

  23. This is because when RCOMM has files open, DOS tends to run out of file 
  24. handles.

  26. When you have completed these steps you can boot from the RCOMM disk and try
  27. it out. I wish you would read the .doc file first but since I never do, I 
  28. assume you won't either. This setup will be enough to get you started. 
  29. Eventually you will probably want to customize your setup.

  36. On hard disk systems the install is a little easier.

  38. After you have unarc-ed the RCOMM files just enter "INSTALLH".

  40. As with the floppy install, a few things will happen automatically:
  41. 1. 2 directories will be created.
  42.    a. \RCOMM, which will contain the program files and,
  43.    b. \DOWNLOAD, which is where your downloads will go.
